It's time to announce the winner of the international sculpture competition announced by Odesa Airport on May 17. Over the course of three months, we received over 100 applications from artists worldwide.
The winner was Stepan Ryabchenko with the sculpture "Sphere", which will be installed in the new terminal.
"Sphere" is an interactive sculpture project consisting of led panels that form a huge spherical screen.
The sphere is a universal symbol and one of the most perfect forms that contains the whole world. In this context, the sphere is also the embodiment of the globe, which opens all its even farthest corners to the traveler and the sun, and symbolizes the outline of the first letter of the word "Odessa" embodied in volume.
The variety of meanings is reflected in a constantly changing form of the object - at the expense of specially created computer animation.
In addition, the jury noted the following works:
• Nazar Bilyk with the sculpture "Elemental"
• Sergey Shaulis with the sculpture "Sea Shard"
• Igor Grechanyk with the sculpture "Touch of the sky"
• Alexander Gusarev with the sculpture "Pearl by the Sea"
More details on the description and visualization of the best works will be available soon.
